Job Description

The County Materials Family of Companies manufactures and delivers concrete construction products to meet the demand for growing communities. Since 1946, we've relied on our talented and dedicated team members to provide reliable products with personalized service. We are seeking a General Labor Plant Team Member for County Materials in Astatula Florida.
Job Summary:
The Plant Team Member for our Landscaping and Masonry Division plays a vital role in supporting the efficient planning, production, and maintenance of concrete landscape and masonry products. This hands-on role ensures equipment and materials are properly prepared, assembled, and maintained to meet both inventory and project-specific requirements. Team Members assist with daily workload changes, and support crews as production demands shift. This role is essential to maintaining smooth operations and adapting to the dynamic needs of a manufacturing environment.
Job Duties:
  • Inspect products visually to ensure quality and identify defects.
  • Assist with preparing and placing packaging materials.
  • Use hand tools for light mechanical maintenance and housekeeping.
  • Operate forklifts (once trained) to move in-plant materials.
  • Clean production equipment, molds, and work areas.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support daily production goals.
  • Sweep, shovel, and clear assigned work areas.
  • Move empty pallets as needed.
  • Attend and participate in shift huddles and safety meetings.
  • Follow all safety rules and wear required PPE at all times.
  • Bend and lift scrap material into hoppers for disposal.
Work Environment:
  • Indoor work environment (approx. 95%), with occasional outdoor exposure.
  • Exposure to heat, cold, dampness, humidity, dust, dirt, fumes, and moving machinery.
  • Work near automated equipment and electrical hazards.
  • Loud noise typical of normal shop conditions.
  • Overtime required during peak demand; standard shifts with minimal/no travel.
  • PPE required at all times (hard hats, safety glasses, safety shoes, high-visibility clothing).
Physical Requirements:
  • Continuous standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Frequent bending, twisting, grasping, gripping, and repetitive motions.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.; up to 100 lbs. with assistance.
  • Must be comfortable working around moving machinery and automated equipment.
  • Visual and auditory abilities required, including depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • 0-2 years of related experience.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Self-motivated, safety-minded, and flexible to meet team needs.
  • Willingness to learn and be trained.
  • Familiarity with common industry practices, tools, and procedures preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, landscaping, or masonry prod.
