- Responsibilities Assist with equipment preparation and operation, including trucks, trailers, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
Support clean-up and decontamination activities, adhering to safety procedures. Perform manual labor tasks such as sweeping, shoveling, lifting, pushing, and pulling. Maintain basic inventory and daily logs, ensuring work areas remain organized. Operate mechanical equipment efficiently. Understand spill response terminology and principles. Knowledge of hazardous material storage, treatment, and disposal. Perform limited chemical tests as required. Communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers. Assist with job-site coordination as necessary. Essential Skills Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Public interaction and problem-solving skills. Understanding of spill response terminology and hazardous material management. Ability to operate mechanical equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school graduate or GED equivalent. 2 years of experience in environmental, construction, or heavy industrial settings preferred. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Experience with drum processing, tank cleaning, and equipment maintenance preferred. Familiarity with excavator, skid-steer, bulldozer, and forklift operation is a plus. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role involves working outdoors in various weather conditions, including very hot temperatures and confined spaces around hazardous chemicals. Work at elevated heights and in noisy conditions using heavy industrial equipment. Technicians typically work an average of 55 hours per week, with crews consisting of 3-5 members including a driver, equipment operator, and general laborer. Adherence to safety and use of personal protective equipment is essential. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Fort Lauderdale, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
