Job Description
This is a temporary employment opportunity not to exceed six (6) consecutive calendar months. This position provides assistance and monitoring of public safety at the local boat ramps, docks, piers and walkways. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays. The number of hours per week will vary. Provide excellent customer service with the ability to listen. Assist boaters with information on launch fee process. Work outside in all weather conditions. Follow all County instruction and training to maintain public safety. Hours per week vary up to 25. Monitor park grounds, restroom facility, beach area and trash. Perform related duties as required. Education, Training, and Experience High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Minimum of 18 years of age. Skills and Abilities Ability to navigate apps, experience with smartphones. Must be able to work weekends and holidays. Must be able to work in extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid weather conditions. Must have the ability to stand for up to 8 hours a day. Licenses Valid Florida Driver License (or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida), or valid Florida Identification Card. Physical Requirements/Work Environment Requires standing and walking most of the workday. The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 20 pounds. The job requires frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and occasional balancing and reaching above shoulders. The job requires the completion of tasks that involve simple grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine manual manipulation. The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking. The job may risk exposure to adverse weather. Emergency Response/Recovery Activities All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location, and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens. Emergency response duties may also include driving and/or operating a county vehicle or equipment and employees must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.
