Job Description

The Lead Material Handler is responsible for overseeing daily material handling operations within a sanitation environment. This role ensures efficient movement, storage, and tracking of materials, supplies, and waste-related equipment while maintaining strict adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards. The Lead Material Handler provides leadership to team members, coordinates workflow, and supports operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Oversight Lead, train, and support a team of material handlers and sanitation personnel Assign daily tasks and monitor team productivity and performance Serve as the primary point of contact for shift-related questions and issue resolution Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement Material Handling & Operations Oversee receiving, staging, storage, and distribution of sanitation materials, equipment, and supplies Ensure proper handling and disposal of waste and recyclable materials in compliance with regulations Coordinate loading/unloading of trucks and movement of materials within the facility or sites Maintain accurate inventory levels and conduct routine cycle counts Inventory & Documentation Track inventory using internal systems or manual logs Maintain accurate records of materials received, stored, and distributed Assist in ordering supplies and monitoring usage levels Generate reports related to inventory, waste tracking, and operational metrics Equipment & Facility Maintenance Inspect and maintain material handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) Coordinate routine maintenance and repairs as needed Ensure cleanliness and organization of storage and work areas Work Environment Combination of indoor and outdoor sanitation and warehouse environments Exposure to noise, machinery, and sanitation materials May require flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays Bring your team-focus, adaptability, and commitment to excellence, and we'll help you grow what drives you - and deliver the world's most challenging Operations Management projects, together. OMFS #BIA #OurJacobs #BoldlyMovingForward #ChallengeAccepted LI-JA2 High school diploma or GED required 3-5+ years of experience in material handling, warehouse, or sanitation operations 1-2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred Ability to work around waste materials, odors, and sanitation-related environments Skills & Competencies Strong knowledge of material handling processes and sanitation practices Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment (certification preferred) Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and organizational ability Basic computer skills (inventory systems, MS Office, etc.) Ideally, here's what you will also have: OSHA or safety certification Experience in warehousing and logistics
