General Laborer Job Description The General Laborer supports day-to-day operations in a busy shop environment by performing a variety of hands-on tasks. This role involves working with hand and power tools, moving and loading materials, organizing the workspace, and assisting the welding and fabrication team in preparing orders and receiving materials. Responsibilities Perform general labor duties throughout the shop to support daily operations. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for various tasks. Move, lift, and load materials weighing approximately 50-75 lbs as needed. Organize and maintain a clean, orderly, and efficient shop environment. Assist the welding and fabrication team with preparing materials and orders for production or shipment. Receive incoming materials, inspect for accuracy and condition, and place them in designated storage areas. Support construction and carpentry-related tasks as directed by supervisors or team leads. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while working with tools, equipment, and materials. Essential Skills Experience performing general labor duties in a shop, construction, or similar hands-on environment. Proficiency using basic hand tools safely and correctly. Ability to operate common power tools in a safe and controlled manner. Capability to regularly lift, move, and load materials weighing 50-75 lbs. Basic understanding of construction or carpentry tasks. Ability to follow instructions and work both independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to safety practices and willingness to use proper protective equipment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Exp in construction, carpentry, or fabrication is an asset. Experience working in a welding or metal fabrication shop is beneficial. Good organizational skills to help maintain an efficient and tidy shop. Reliability and punctuality in a fast-paced, production-focused environment. Willingness to learn new tasks and support different areas of the shop as needed. Why Work Here? The shop layout includes areas for material receiving, storage, fabrication, and general organization, and the role involves moving between these areas throughout the workday. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plant City, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
