WAREHOUSE AND YARD ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION DESCRIPTION
Responsible for providing superior customer service to our loyal customers and professional contractors while assisting in the selection of the building products they are purchasing. This position requires prompt, courteous, and respectful service while loading and or unloading building supplies into or out of our warehouse and yard. Additional responsibilities include but not limited to, operating a forklift, loading purchased building supplies into customer vehicles, completing assigned tasked in a timely yet safe manner, working hand in hand with our management team as well other fellow employees. Possess a positive, driven attitude while maintaining a safe, clean and well-organized work environment.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Polite, professional customer service.
- Assist customers with product selection, placement of orders, requests for pricing and quotes.
- Validate customer receipts prior to loading their purchases with your signature and customer's signature.
- Cleaning the yard and warehouse.
- Processing / sorting building materials such as roof shingles, flooring etc..
- Load materials into customer vehicles or contractor's truck/trailer.
- Unload semi-truck loads of incoming materials for sale at BDDO.
- Complete training course for forklift operation. Receive forklift operator certification.
- Operate forklift to assist in loading/unloading materials.
- Operate forklift to merchandise materials throughout yard and warehouse.
- Maintaining inventory in yard, warehouse and showroom.
- Willing to assist in any way to keep the workflow even and streamlined throughout each day.
REQUIRED SKILLS
.Have some knowledge or training in how to use and operate a Forklift.- Previous knowledge of building materials, applications, related equipment and/or construction industry is preferred but not required.
- Ability to count, measure and simple math skills required for figuring linear and square footage.
- Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to work outdoors as well as indoors under weather permitting conditions.
- Ability to lift and / or move 50 to 100 pounds at a time.
- Physically demands require individual to bend, reach with both arms and hands, climb, balance, stoop and lift frequently throughout the day.
- Ability to read and carry out instructions while applying common sense and understanding.
- Be a team player while providing professional and polite customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid Driver's License
- High school diploma or GED General Education Degree
- Flexible availability to work weekends and holidays.
- 1 year prior related work experience preferred.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Flexible, multi-tasker working in fast paced environment.
