Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Warehouse Assistant is an entry-level position designed to support both the Lead Mechanic and the Warehouse Manager in the day-to-day operations of our equipment shop and materials warehouse. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to learn the trades, takes pride in keeping a workspace organized, and is dependable and hardworking. No prior professional experience is required — we will provide on-the-job training. A willingness to follow direction, a basic understanding of tools, and a strong work ethic are the most important qualities we are looking for.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting the Lead Mechanic Hand tools, parts, and supplies to the mechanic during repairs and maintenance tasks. Perform basic maintenance tasks under direct supervision, such as fluid top-offs, filter changes, and greasing/lubricating equipment. Clean and wash equipment, vehicles, and work areas before and after service. Help move and stage equipment or vehicles for scheduled maintenance. Assist with organizing the tool room — cleaning, sorting, and returning tools to their proper place. Dispose of used fluids, filters, and shop waste following proper procedures as directed. Run parts to and from suppliers or job sites as needed. Supporting the Warehouse Manager Receive incoming deliveries — unload, count, and verify materials against purchase orders. Stock shelves and storage areas in an organized, labeled manner. Pull and stage materials or parts for job site crews as directed. Keep the warehouse clean, swept, and free of hazards at all times. Assist with routine inventory counts and report discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager. Help organize and maintain storage racks, bins, and supply areas. Assist with loading outgoing deliveries and ensuring materials are properly secured. General Shop & Yard Duties Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop, yard, and warehouse environment. Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). Communicate clearly with supervisors about task progress and any issues encountered. Complete any other support tasks as assigned by the Lead Mechanic or Warehouse Manager. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED preferred; will consider candidates currently enrolled. No prior work experience required — entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply. Any hands-on experience with tools, vehicles, or equipment (personal, school, or volunteer) is a plus. Skills & Attributes Basic familiarity with common hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, ratchets, etc.). Strong organizational skills — ability to keep workspaces tidy and materials properly stored. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately. Reliable and punctual with a positive, team-oriented attitude. Ability to stay on task and manage multiple responsibilities throughout the day. Good communication skills — comfortable asking questions and providing updates to supervisors. Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities over time. Licenses Valid driver's license required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on a regular basis. Comfortable standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods. Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions including heat, cold, and occasional exposure to dust, noise, and fumes. Comfortable working in a shop and warehouse environment.
WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS
Standard hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
