Summary of Primary Purpose of the Position Summarize in 2 to 4 sentences the primary function and value of the position. Under direct supervision, the Material Handler 1 operates forklifts or other mobile equipment to perform routine moving, staging, loading or unloading of materials, supplies or products within or near plant, yard, warehouse or work site. Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • In addition to complying with all safety, environmental, quality, and core policies, and contributing to the company's Zero Harm and Zero Defects commitment, the following briefly describes the 3 to 6 primary activities (not all activities) that are regularly performed, and the approximate percentage of time annually devoted to each (equals 100%).
Percent Transports raw materials, supplies, products and/or finished goods to and from storage or production lines and places them in designated area 80% Actively participates in continuous improvement and corrective action activities 10% Completes all necessary paperwork and transactions, including scanning requirements 5% Perform housekeeping, 5-S, and other duties as assigned 5% Key Measures Briefly list the areas in which this job is accountable for results. Minimum:
High School diploma or equivalent, or attain ACT WorkKeys Assessment at certified job profile skill level
Preferred:
3+ months of experience operating mobile equipment in a manufacturing or shipping environment Mobile equipment certification Skills & Competencies List additional attributes, including WITTS capabilities appropriate to role level, necessary to perform duties and responsibilities listed above. Being hearing impaired may be life threatening in the environment. Physical Activity May be required to lift, carry, and/or move equipment/supplies weighing up to 50 pounds Physical Activity May be required to stand or walk up to 80 percent of the time, including long durations of standing or walking up to 8 to 10 hours daily Physical Activity Some work may be repetitive, which may include repetitive physical motion Physical Activity Use of hands and fingers required to pinch, pick, and feel objects, tools and/or controls Physical Activity Work requires continuous mental attention and high alertness Physical Activity Work requires physical activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, reaching, crawling, climbing, balancing, reaching, etc., which may include the use of a step stool or ladder. Work Hours May be required to work outside of normally scheduled hours as mandated by the client, project, and/or work load including overtime with minimal notification (e.g., evenings, weekends, and/or holidays) Work Hours On-call support may be required and may include 24x7 coverage Work Hours Scheduled work hours, including rotating shifts, may vary to support a 24x7 operation (e.g., early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, etc.)
