Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Yard & Warehouse Technician plays a key role in the daily operations of the materials yard and warehouse facility. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and efficiently run yard; supporting inventory management and disbursement; and ensuring field crews are properly staged and ready to deploy each day. This position works closely with the procurement team and field operations to support safe, uninterrupted project execution and will be involved in the day-to-day maintenance of the shop. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Stage and disburse materials to field crews in preparation for daily morning departures Maintain accurate organization of inventory throughout the warehouse and yard, ensuring materials are properly stored and labeled Assist with receiving, verifying, and putting away incoming deliveries; inspect shipments for accuracy and damage Perform routine yard maintenance including trash removal, weed eating, mowing, and general grounds upkeep Support loading and unloading materials using hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other manual equipment Verify materials when deliveries are received. Organizing and putting away deliveries and maintaining organization throughout the shop with materials. Operate forklift to move and stage materials upon completion of required certification Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, warehouse, and surrounding yard areas on a daily basis Follow all company safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE at all times Perform other duties as assigned Success Factors/job competencies: Reliable and punctual Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; able to maintain accurate inventory and orderly workspaces Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage daily task with minimal supervision Solutions-oriented mindset; proactively identifies and addresses issues in the yard or warehouse Clear verbal communication skills; ability to coordinate effectively with crew members, drivers, and the procurement team Commitment to safety in all tasks and environments Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required. Prior experience in a warehouse, yard, or materials handling environment preferred (1+ year). Forklift certification is preferred; if not currently certified, must be willing and able to obtain certification (training provided). Familiarity with basic inventory processes and materials organization a plus. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation Working Conditions / Environment:
This position operates primarily outdoors in a yard and warehouse environment and is subject to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, wind, and rain. The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching throughout the workday. Regular lifting and carrying of materials up to 50 lbs. unassisted; team lift required for loads exceeding 50 lbs. Occasional operation of a forklift, pallet jack, and other yard equipment upon certification. Exposure to dust, noise, diesel fumes, and construction/utility materials in an outdoor and warehouse setting. Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including steel-toed boots, high-visibility vest, gloves, and hard hat. Must be able to work a consistent schedule with early morning start times to support crew deployment. Other Duties:
