Warehouse worker 1st shift $20+ Job Description The Material Handler plays a key role in safely moving, staging, and organizing steel materials in a busy metals processing facility. This position operates a variety of material handling equipment, completes accurate documentation, and ensures materials are stored and labeled correctly to support efficient production operations on the second shift. Responsibilities Locate and stage materials according to work orders and production requirements. Operate sit-down forklifts to move, load, and unload materials safely and efficiently. Use side loaders to handle long or heavy steel products as needed. Operate overhead cranes to move all materials over 35 pounds in a safe and controlled manner. Fill out all required worksheets and work orders accurately and legibly. Label materials clearly and return them to the correct storage locations. Perform general material handling tasks, including picking, staging, and organizing inventory. Support shipping and receiving activities, including loading, unloading, and verifying materials. Use pallet jacks and other material handling tools to move products throughout the facility. Work with warehouse management software, such as SAP, to track and manage inventory. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines in a metals processing environment. Maintain a clean, orderly, and well-organized work area. Demonstrate strong attitude, drive, and attendance to support team and production goals. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience operating side loaders for handling long or heavy materials. Experience operating overhead cranes to move heavy steel products. Comfort working in a fast-paced production setting with multiple machines running. Attention to detail for accurate labeling, staging, and inventory management. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a warehouse or production environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Carol Stream, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
