Job Title:
Warehouse Material Handler Job Description The Warehouse Material Handler supports daily warehouse and production operations by safely handling materials, operating a sit-down forklift, and ensuring accurate shipping, receiving, and inventory activities. This role works a day shift from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is cross-trained in both warehouse and manufacturing production areas, including packing, repacking, and filling personal care products. The position requires strong attention to detail, comfort working with computers and RF scanners, and a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation and inventory records in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilities Perform a full range of basic warehouse duties to support daily operations. Load and unload products using a sit-down forklift in a safe and efficient manner. Palletize product securely to prepare items for storage and shipment. Prepare products for shipment, including packing, labeling, and staging orders. Print and apply labels accurately using computer-based label printing systems. Use computers to print labels, check inventory levels, and update inventory records. Operate RF scanners to perform inventory picking, pulling, and verification tasks. Ensure the accuracy of all receiving and shipping documents and related records. Support inventory control activities, including inventory counts and cycle counts. Pick and pull inventory using pen-and-paper methods as needed for order fulfillment. Perform material handling tasks such as moving, lifting, loading, and unloading materials and finished goods. Handle shipping and receiving activities, including checking in materials and preparing outbound shipments. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work takes place in a personal care product manufacturing and warehouse facility, similar to many chemical operations but focused on non-harmful products. There are three production floors, including areas with large pumps and tanks in one room and extensive piping systems in the other rooms. The environment can become very hot during the summer, and floors may be dirty and wet, requiring consistent attention to safety and footing. The role involves splitting time between the warehouse and the production floor, assisting wherever needed across operations. Personal protective equipment (PPE) includes safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and hard hats, which must be worn as required. The position operates on a day shift from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., working with equipment such as sit-down forklifts, RF scanners, computers, and ERP systems in a busy, industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Darien, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
