Material Handler Job Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Material Handler to support operations at a large manufacturing facility in the eastern Indianapolis area. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently moving materials, maintaining accurate inventory, and supporting production needs in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Training will be conducted on 1st shift, after which you will transition to 2nd or 3rd shift based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Pull, pick, and pack boxes weighing up to 50 lbs (approximately 1,000 boxes per shift). Safely operate electric and manual pallet jacks and tuggers to transport materials. Occasionally operate a sit-down forklift to move palletized products. Push fully loaded carts (up to 72 containers) approximately 10 times per shift. Use RF scanners to track inventory and ensure accurate product movement. Weigh product and packaging to meet customer specifications. Accurately document materials, batch numbers, and inventory transactions. Pick and stage orders for production or shipment. Maintain a clean and organized workspace in a high-volume environment. Follow all safety procedures and operating guidelines. Complete and apply structured training (classroom + hands-on). Work overtime as required, including extended shifts and occasional Saturdays.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of consistent work history in previous roles. Experience operating forklifts, tuggers, and pallet jacks. Familiarity with RF scanners and inventory systems. Experience in picking, packing, and warehouse material handling. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs consistently. Comfortable working in hot, dirty, and oily industrial conditions. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shift after completing training.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a material handler, order selector, or forklift operator in high-volume environments. Experience working in large-scale (1M+ sq. ft.) warehouse facilities. Familiarity with weighing and quality-checking product/packaging. Strong documentation and inventory accuracy skills. Ability to maintain speed, safety, and accuracy under physical demands.
