Material Handler Job Description This role supports a large manufacturing facility in the Eastern Indianapolis area by safely and efficiently handling materials, moving products throughout the warehouse, and ensuring accurate inventory tracking. You will work on 2nd or 3rd shift after completing a structured training program on 1st shift, performing physically demanding tasks in a hot, dirty, and oily production environment. Responsibilities Pull, pick, and pack boxes weighing up to 50 pounds, handling approximately 1,000 boxes per person per shift. Use electric and manual pallet jacks and tuggers to move carts full of materials throughout the facility. Operate a sit-down forklift occasionally to move palletized products safely and efficiently. Physically push full carts containing 72 containers per cart, approximately 10 times per day. Use an RF scanner to track inventory and ensure accurate recording of product movement. Weigh product and packaging according to customer specifications to maintain quality and consistency. Ensure proper documentation of materials, batch numbers, and related information according to established guidelines. Pick orders accurately and stage materials for production or shipment as required. Maintain a clean and organized work area in a busy warehouse and manufacturing environment. Follow all safety procedures while operating material-handling equipment and performing daily tasks. Participate in the structured training program, including lecture-style and hands-on training, and apply learned processes on the job. Work required overtime, including 2-4 hours at the end of scheduled shifts and occasional Saturdays with advance notice. Essential Skills At least 1 year of consistent work history per job in previous roles. Experience as a forklift and tugger operator in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Proficiency using electric and manual pallet jacks to move materials safely. Ability to use an RF scanner for inventory tracking and order picking. Experience with picking, packing, and materials handling in a warehouse environment. Ability to operate a sit-down forklift to move palletized products. Capability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift. Comfort working in a hot, dirty, and oily department within a large industrial facility. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and adhere to detailed documentation requirements. Willingness and ability to work 2nd or 3rd shift after completing training on 1st shift. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as an order selector, material handler, or forklift operator in a high-volume warehouse or manufacturing setting. Familiarity with using tuggers, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment in a 1 million square foot facility or similarly large environment. Experience weighing product and packaging to meet specific customer or production requirements. Strong attention to detail when documenting materials, batch numbers, and inventory movements. Ability to sustain a fast pace while maintaining accuracy and safety in physically demanding conditions. Work Environment This role is based in a large, 1 million square foot manufacturing and warehouse facility in the Eastern Indianapolis region. The department environment is very hot, dirty, and oily, and you must be comfortable working in these conditions while performing physically demanding tasks. You will work with material-handling equipment such as electric and manual pallet jacks, tuggers, sit-down forklifts, and RF scanners in a busy warehouse environment focused on safety and productivity. The position offers multiple shifts:
training takes place on 1st shift (Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM) for approximately 4-6 weeks through an on-site Global Training Center that combines lecture-style and hands-on instruction. After training, available shifts include 2nd shift (Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM) and 3rd shift (Sunday through Thursday, 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM). Overtime is common and typically involves working an additional 2-4 hours at the end of the shift, with occasional Saturdays scheduled with advance notice. Uniforms and appropriate safety footwear and eyewear are provided or supported through company programs, contributing to a professional and safety-focused work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Greenfield, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $43680.00 - $49920.00/yr.
