Overview The Material Handler I performs several activities to help the Material Handler II and Warehouse Supervisor with warehouse operations. Material Handler I is responsible to understand their role in the Food Safety Management System by awareness of the importance and relevancy of their activities and to report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action. The Material Handler I must perform job functions safely and must follow all standard practices to achieve food safety and customer satisfaction. POSITION FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES
- Inspect, weight, and record weight of empty pallets and loaded pallets.
- Follow standard practices to maintain clean and suitable conditions in warehouse area.
- Drive a forklift as needed to perform warehouse functions, to received, store, and load product. (Must complete company forklift safety training.)
- Complete all training as required.
- Follow all safety, quality, food safety policies.
- Inspect forklift as needed daily.
- Inspect trailer before loading.
- Maintain organizational rotation of finished product (FIFO).
- Maintain organization of finished product and consumables in warehouse.
- Use barcode scanner or other technology as dictated for job functions.
- Handle product for reprocess for production area.
- Regular and timely attendance is required of all employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR WORK EXPERIENCE
- Secondary diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Ability to read specific written instructions in English.
- Ability to operate a forklift safely and proficiently.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide quickly and accurately.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
- Ability to work independently.
