Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for staging production lines based on manufacturing orders/pick tickets scheduled as well as successfully moving raw materials, sub-components, finished goods and supplies through the facility. The Material Handler position is key to insuring inventory accuracy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Fill requisitions, manufacturing orders/pick tickets, or requests for material or other stock items and distributes items accordingly.
  • Ensure manufacturing lines are setup according to production schedule using picklists and direction of Manufacturing Leads.
  • Remove unused materials from work areas and return to then to their proper location.
  • Maintain DMR area and coordinate with Inventory Control for disposal.
  • Stack skids or pallets in designated areas. Clean up and disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, and strapping and place in proper containers or designated areas.
  • Assist with basic material audits, cycle counts, etc.
  • Assist Receiving Clerks when required.
  • Move materials through facility with the use of material handling equipment; i.e., forklift, pallet jack, etc.
  • Ensure all incoming materials and supplies are placed in their proper location, after receiving process is completed.
  • Mark materials with identifying information using identifying tags or labels.
  • Ensure warehouse is accessible and safe for employee and visitor traffic.
  • Assist in maintaining warehouse organization and cleanliness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Company forklift certification and six month's experience in a similar role.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to read and interpret documents.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to calculate simple figures.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to assimilate large quantities of numerical and verbal data.
COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Basic computer knowledge
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to listen, hear and comprehend.
  • Ability to see, read, comprehend, and assess situations.
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Typical manufacturing environment with changes in temperature due to location of work to be performed.
  • Fast paced, multitasking environment.
