Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a Warehouse Specialist/Material Expediter for our client site in Patuxent River, MD. The Warehouse Specialist/Material Expeditor is responsible for overseeing the receipt, storage, documentation, and movement of a wide range of military supplies and equipment. This role is crucial for ensuring that the right materials are available at the right time to support military missions and personnel.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Responsibilities include understanding and compliance with all Naval Supply Procedures. Receives, handles, stores, and issues HAZMAT in accordance with the prescribed procedures established by CHRIMP.
  • Receives HAZMAT from customers and commercial carriers
  • Ensure that all transactions are properly documented. Prepares issue, receipt, and inventory documents and inputs data into the GDS. Conducts periodic location surveys and inventories in accordance with schedules. Correctly identifies and corrects inaccuracies on the government tracking database.
  • Drives a pick-up truck having a gross vehicle weight of up to 10,000 pounds
  • Provides transportation for HAZMAT to selected customers of the assigned HAZMIN Center on an as requested basis. Make local deliveries on base
  • Performs minor or emergency maintenance as required on forklifts.
  • Will be responsible for HAZMAT specific issues such as material compatibility, compliance with specific environmental regulations that relate to the handling of HAZMAT, and Department of Transportation and Safety requirements.
  • Prepares issue, receipt, inventory documents and inputs data into the GDS.
  • Conducts periodic location surveys and inventories in accordance with schedules, and make corrections as needed.
Minimum Requirements:
  • May be required to lift items in excess of 45 pounds but MHE is readily available for HAZMAT items exceeding this amount
  • Required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions.
  • Overtime may be required on weekends and holidays, as well as late evening and early morning hours.
  • Will be required to sign and date material documentation as proof of receipt and provide copy to customers and retain copy for file.
  • Must possess a current Medical Examiner's Certificate or proof of a current medical examination document on their license. This document must be carried on their person during working hours for inspection purposes.
  • Must always wear PPE during work hours.
Preferred Qualification:
  • Possess a minimum of four (4) years logistical experience, with at least two (2) years in a Navy or Marine Corps environment
  • Must have and maintain a current, valid state driver's license.
Pay:
$22.80 - $22.89 per hour
