General Machine Operator Job Description This role involves operating a variety of general production machines and equipment, including tumblers and stamp presses, to process incoming pin orders accurately and on time. You will use hand and power tools to set up, adjust, and maintain equipment, while ensuring consistent quality and adherence to production schedules in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Run a variety of general machines, such as tumblers, stamp presses, and other production equipment, in a safe and efficient manner. Process all incoming pin orders accurately and within required timeframes. Operate and maintain all machines and equipment in the pin department according to established procedures. Use hand and power tools to set up, adjust, and maintain equipment as needed. Troubleshoot basic mechanical issues to minimize downtime and maintain production flow. Inspect parts regularly to ensure they meet quality control standards and specifications. Maintain accurate documentation by writing out tags and labels for all orders. Plan and execute small projects related to production, process improvement, or equipment setup. Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of independent work, following production schedules and priorities. Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives and suggestion systems to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency. Follow all safety guidelines and standard operating procedures while working with machines, tools, and materials. Assist with general labor tasks such as assembly, packaging, and material handling as needed. Essential Skills Experience as a general machine operator or in a similar manufacturing role. Ability to operate general production machinery, including tumblers and stamp presses. Proficiency using hand tools and power tools for equipment setup, adjustment, and basic maintenance. Ability to read and interpret prints or basic production documentation. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot simple mechanical issues. Experience in general labor, production, assembly, or machine operating environments. Ability to inspect parts and maintain quality control standards. Capability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 45 pounds safely. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in processing orders and completing documentation. Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and follow production schedules. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a manufacturing or production facility. Familiarity with stamping or stamp press operations. Experience with packaging and general labor tasks in a production environment. Comfort working with multiple types of machines and adapting to different setups. Willingness to participate in continuous improvement and suggestion programs. The work requires standing for most of the shift and handling materials weighing up to 45 pounds. Depending on the specific machine you operate, the area may occasionally have noticeable odors associated with production processes. The environment emphasizes safety, consistent production flow, and adherence to quality standards. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Grand Rapids, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
