We are seeking an energetic, motivated, and reliable team member to fulfill this important role within our organization.
Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient movement of inventory items within the manufacturing facility and between our Kentwood facilities. This role ensures materials are transferred, stored, and recorded properly to maintain accurate inventory levels and support smooth production operations. The Material Handler will use an ERP system to enter and manage transactions including transfers, receipts, and adjustments.
Key Responsibilities:
Shipping and Receiving :
Assist with unloading incoming shipments from trucks, check them against purchase orders for accuracy, and inspect for any damages.
Inventory Management :
Identify, label, and store materials in designated bins or shelves. They also perform regular cycle counts to ensure physical inventory matches digital records.
Material Movement :
Use equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, and dollies to transport goods between storage areas, production floors, and loading docks.
Order Fulfillment :
Pull products based on "pick sheets," wrap or crate them securely, and stage them for final shipment.
Documentation :
Record all material movements and shipping data.
Safety & Maintenance :
Adhere strictly to OSHA standards and perform daily pre-use safety inspections on heavy machinery. Other duties as needed. Qualifications and Skills - Required Ability to get certified for forklift operations. Valid Drivers License.
Physical Stamina :
Must be able to stand for 8 hours and consistently lift heavy objects, typically ranging from 30 to 50 lbs. (and sometimes up to 100 lbs. safely, usually as a team).
Technical Proficiency :
Basic Computer Data Entry Experience with some warehouse management software (like Epicor/Kinetics) preferred and verifiable forklift experience . Attention to
Detail :
Essential for accurately reading product codes, lot numbers, and matching delivery manifests.
Communication :
Ability to coordinate with machine operators, supervisors, and truck drivers to keep workflows moving smoothly.
Attendance :
Must have an excellent attendance record and reliably show up ready to work on time.
Education & Experience Education :
A High School Diploma or GED.
Experience :
1-2 years of previous warehouse or manufacturing experience preferred. Typical Work Environment Fast-paced factory/warehouse position. Required PPE includes safety eye protection and safety footwear at all times. Shifts can include early mornings, and overtime when required per customer demand.
