About the
Role:
The Dock Worker Trailer Spotter plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement of trailers within a manufacturing facility's loading dock area. This position is responsible for guiding and positioning trailers accurately to facilitate timely loading and unloading operations, directly impacting the overall supply chain effectiveness. The role requires close communication with the team to maintain smooth workflow and prevent delays. Attention to safety protocols and proper handling techniques is essential to protect personnel, equipment, and goods. Ultimately, the Dock Worker/Trailer Spotter contributes to maintaining high productivity standards and supporting the manufacturing operation's logistical needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid forklift operator certification or equivalent experience. Proven experience in loading trucks and trailer spotting within a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Basic knowledge of wood bracing techniques for securing cargo. Ability to follow safety protocols and work in a physically demanding environment. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a manufacturing industry setting. Additional certifications related to material handling or safety training. Familiarity with ensuring accuracy while loading material. Experience operating and maintaining forklifts. Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate workplace hazards proactively.
Responsibilities:
Direct and position incoming and outgoing trailers safely and efficiently at designated dock doors. Assist in loading trucks by coordinating with forklift operators and warehouse staff. Maintain clear communication with team members to ensure smooth trailer movements. Adhere to company policies and OSHA safety standards at all times.
Skills:
The required skills of loading trucks, wood bracing, and forklift operation are integral to the daily responsibilities of this role. Loading trucks efficiently requires coordination and physical stamina to ensure cargo is handled properly and schedules are met. Wood bracing skills are used to secure loads, preventing damage during transit and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Forklift operation is essential for moving heavy materials safely and accurately within the dock area. Monday-Thursday 5:00am-3:30pm. Occasional overtime on Fridays.
