Full Job Description Description:
A Warehouse Technician plays a key role in the operations of a warehouse, assisting in various tasks related to the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. This position involves handling materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring the efficient operation of warehouse processes.
Receiving Shipments:
Assist in unloading shipments, verifying the accuracy of contents against invoices or orders, and noting any discrepancies or damages.
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records of inventory, including quantities, locations, and conditions. Perform regular stock checks and update inventory management systems accordingly.
Picking and Packing:
Pick orders from inventory based on customer requests or shipping schedules. Pack goods for dispatch, ensuring they are securely labeled correctly.
Shipping:
Prepare shipments for dispatch, including loading items onto delivery vehicles according to schedules and ensuring that all necessary documentation is completed and accurate.
Equipment Operation:
Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move stock and load/unload vehicles, following all safety procedures.
Maintenance and Housekeeping:
Perform basic maintenance on warehouse equipment. Keep the warehouse clean and organized, ensuring that all items are stored properly and safely.
Compliance:
Adhere to company policies and legal regulations governing warehouse activities, including safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Reporting:
Report any inventory discrepancies, equipment malfunctions, or safety incidents to warehouse management promptly.
Collaboration:
Work closely with other warehouse staff and departments, such as logistics, procurement, and customer service, to optimize warehouse operations and address any issues.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in initiatives to improve warehouse processes, such as implementing new technologies or methodologies to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; further training in logistics or warehouse operations is a plus.
Experience:
Previous experience working in a warehouse or similar environment is preferred.
Certifications:
Forklift certification is highly desirable and may be required for certain roles.
Skills:
Basic understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management. Proficiency in using inventory management software and systems. Good organizational and time management skills. Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods. Strong teamwork and communication abilities.
Knowledge:
Familiarity with safety procedures and legal regulations in a warehouse setting.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to work in various shifts, including evenings and weekends. Physical fitness, as the job involves considerable lifting, bending, and walking. Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, adapting quickly to changing priorities.
