Job Description

Crown Staffing is currently seeking experienced Materials Handlers to fill openings with a local Manufacturing company in Plymouth, MI. Job Purpose- A Material Handler , or Warehouse Associate, handles, moves and stores various materials (WIP) within the Norm Fastener warehouse. Their main duties include weighing material, using RF scanner to scan product/bins, move inventory from one phase of production to another, loading and unloading different transport/freight, recording inventory and making sure product orders properly match scheduled deliveries About the Role- A Material Handler is required to work with the logistics and warehouse supervisor(s)/manager(s) who direct and delegate team members with efficiency and correct locations to store, weigh and move product within the plant.
General Responsibilities:
Below is a generalized list of activities Norm Fasteners expects material handlers to ensure all members in the department follow: Compliance with Safety and PPE usage (eyewear, earwear, work shoes, uniform) etc. Collaboration with Italian Staff to continually improve processes/workflows Punctuality and compliance with overall attendance and workplace policies. Production Sheets are filled out appropriately and timely Weighing and following the appropriate scrap process Parts produced are routinely and frequently checked according to quality control plan Proper communication is being passed down at changeover of shift Communication boards are updated and followed accordingly Targets and Metrics are visible and clear to all Lunch Break Policy is being followed; punching in and out for paid break time.
Proper Cleaning and Purging of Machinery Down Time Data Collection Job Duties:
Pulling and staging stock for packing, as required by pick sheets Ability to drive and move material in all phases and aspects of production Ability to receive and store steel coils properly and efficiently in SAP/ RF Scanner Ensure 5S procedures are being followed. Correctly scan all coil tags to the designated Heading machine. Verifying the accuracy of quantity and quality of material(s) Verifying the labeling every product and placing them accordingly to the correct location(s) on shop floor or K location Strong organizational skills to establish and respect the right priority of the activity Identifying and locating the right products during the manufacturing process Keeping a well-maintained and updated account of stock and inventory Completing technical documentation and other required communication Keeping all material handling equipment in the best condition by conducting regular maintenance Keeping data on the availability of products in short supply Collaborating with internal departments to locate missing packages, fix incorrect deliveries and replace damaged products Strong troubleshooting skills. Organizing material to be staged in the proper location(s) Preparing and printing the proper paper and labels for material Organizing material to be stocked/stored/staged into warehouse area Weighing bins and print labels for material to be stored in warehouse Be able to assist when, where, and for whatever is needed throughout the day Licensed to operate forklift Ability to work on weekends Mode of proper transportation Perform Duties as
Assigned Qualifications:
To succeed as a Material Handler at Norm Fasteners, you need to have the following: High school diploma or equivalent 1-2 years of experience in a receiving, warehouse, or similar role Expert ability to drive a forklift, especially in narrow production area(s) Knowledge of SAP preferred Being adaptable and self-driven Teamworking skills Strong ability to troubleshooting issues Strong problem-solving attitude Ability to use the RF Scanner Diligent in scanning and weighing material Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted Excellent attention to detail Strong organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, and reach. Ability to read, write and do simple math Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in designated areas Working conditions of a shop environment including regular exposure to noise and oils and vary temperatures. Working Conditions- Ability to work under pressure, take inventory of stock management, pride in work accomplishment Physical requirements- The job is somewhat physically demanding (Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.)
