Warehouse & Shipping Associate (1st Shift)

Type of Position:

This position will begin as a 12-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 12 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 4 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.

Job Location:

Pontiac, MI (on site role).

Compensation:

$25.00/hr to $28.00/hr (depending on experience) to start. Overtime is paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

Benefits:

Available (medical, dental, 401k, vision, etc) - benefit eligibility begins 1st of the month after 30 days of employment. You will have 10 days PTO per year (PTO accrues over time). There will be significantly more PTO in converting to direct hire.

Job Description:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major automotive manufacturer to hire a Warehouse & Shipping Associate. We are seeking a dependable associate to support daily logistics, inventory control, and shipping/receiving operations. This role plays a key part in ensuring materials are accurately received, stored, and shipped while maintaining an organized and efficient warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform shipping and receiving activities, including loading and unloading trucks using a forklift. Receive incoming materials in the ERP system and verify accuracy against purchase orders and packing slips. Package and ship products domestically and internationally, ensuring compliance with shipping requirements and documentation. Maintain accurate inventory by labeling, organizing, and properly storing materials. Pick and stage inventory for kitting and production needs. Support general warehouse operations, including cycle counts and inventory audits. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Skills, Education, Experience Required:

High school diploma OR GED is required (higher level education is also welcome). Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Candidates will need a chauffeurs license in case of driving company vehicles for occasional deliveries (no overnight travel). Must be at least 21 years of age. Ability to pass a DOT physical. Previous experience in shipping/receiving, warehouse operations, or logistics. Forklift experience (or willingness to be trained). Experience using an ERP system for inventory transactions. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to lift and move materials as required in a warehouse environment.

Skills, Education, Experience Preferred:

Experience with domestic and international shipping processes. Familiarity with inventory control and kitting processes. Experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment. CDL license is a plus. Work Environment /

Other Info:

This will be a 1st (day) shift role, Monday to Friday. Standard hours will be 7:00am to 3:30pm. There may be occasional overtime as needed, but overtime won't be extensive. Any OT will be paid at 1.5x. There may be occasional rare travel as needed to local facilities. This role may require working a few days per month in our Grand Blanc, MI facility. Warehouse setting with regular standing, walking, and material handling. Use of forklifts and other warehouse equipment. Fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and accuracy. This role typically includes about 10 hours of overtime per week. Overtime is paid at 1.5x for all hours worked over 40, and any Sunday hours worked after reaching 40 hours in the week are paid at double time (2.0x).
