Responsibilities:
Unloading vehicles transporting food to the Food Distribution program. Reconciles order with actual delivery. Reports any shortages or damage caused in the shipping process. Sort, stack, inventory, and store merchandise according to the USDA stacking and storing guidelines. Entering merchandise into computer software. Transporting food properly. Physical inventory for the purpose of verifying stock and identifying loss. Cleans the warehouse, outside lawn and parking lot care for the purpose of maintaining a safe and sanitary area. Drives vehicles (forklift, van, electric pallet jack, etc.) for the purpose of transporting orders and materials to designated areas. Keeps all equipment in running order and stores equipment properly. Prepare orders. Assists with maintenance of files, records and tracking regarding inventory, mileage, food ordering, and expiration dates. Maintains forklift and food distribution vehicles and other equipment. Replies to inquiries from clients about services or directs them to the appropriate staff. Cross training for food ordering/placing. Displays a responsible and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems. Assists in training new employees. Must attend all mandatory department meetings. Ensures confidently of participants. Obtain upon hire, civil rights training, Integrated food management system training, safe food storage/temperature control training. Recognize that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers. Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the community. Required to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with the applicable policies. Maintains a clean and organized work area. Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.
Qualifications:
Valid U.S. Class D Driver's License required and must be insurable under Fond du Lac's insurance requirements. GED or high school diploma preferred. Knowledge of how to read expiration dates on foods preferred. Forklift, scissor lift and electric pallet jack certification required; if not certified at the time of hire, employee must become certified within 90 days of hire. Employment is contingent upon this requirement and must maintain certification for duration of employment. Knowledge of safety procedures for lifting and moving loads by hand required. Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required. The understanding of safe lifting practices is required. Strong customer service skills are required. Manual dexterity is required. Skills in organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments are required. Tact and good judgement are required. The ability to work with confidential information is required. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required. Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required. Attention to detail and accuracy is required. Basic knowledge of food safe storage/temperatures. Preferred knowledge of computer applications to include word processing, databases, and/or data entry, spreadsheets, and Microsoft outlook. Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved. Subjects to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Fond du Lac Reservation's Personnel Policies. Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks. Travel is required. All employees shall thoroughly wash their hands and arms with soap and water before starting work and wash their hands during work hours as often as may be required removing soil and contamination as well as after visiting the washroom.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds is required. Ability to move up to 50 pounds is required. Walking, standing, bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling are required. Subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, including work in adverse weather conditions.
