Experienced Lead Warehouse Associate - St. Louis, MO Starting pay: $21/hour + quarterly performance bonuses Paid weekly. Full premium benefits package. Service Metal Products is a nationwide Master Distributor built on reliability, accuracy, and operational discipline. Our warehouses are central to delivering on that promise, and the Lead Warehouse Associate plays a key role in maintaining and strengthening those standards on the floor. This position emphasizes leadership, coaching, and consistent operational execution-not just experience or tenure. While it is a hands-on warehouse role, it is intended for individuals who operate at a higher level by guiding others in real time, reinforcing expectations, and improving daily performance. The role does not include formal direct reports but carries significant influence and responsibility. As a Lead Warehouse Associate, you will remain actively involved in daily operations while leading by example, supporting peers, and driving performance across shipping, receiving, and inventory functions. You will work closely with Warehouse Management and other Leads to ensure safety, accuracy, productivity, and consistent work practices throughout the day. In this role, you will be expected to:
  • Set the standard on the warehouse floor through example, coaching, and accountability
  • Train and coach Warehouse Associates on standard processes, product flow, and work instruction guidelines
  • Support onboarding and hands-on training for new hires
  • Provide real-time feedback and guidance; escalate performance concerns when appropriate
  • Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts, discrepancy resolution, and process discipline
  • Ensure warehouse equipment, work areas, and material handling practices are safe, organized, and well-maintained QualificationsExpectations
  • 2+ years of relevant warehouse experience in a Lead/Senior role
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, or coach others in an operational environment
  • Strong understanding of warehouse safety, accuracy, and inventory control
  • Ability to balance hands-on work with coaching and problem-solving responsibilities
  • Comfort holding peers accountable in a professional, respectful manner
  • Familiarity with warehouse systems, scanners, and basic Microsoft tools (Teams, Outlook, Excel)
  • Reliable attendance and a consistent, team-oriented work ethic
  • Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification (training provided as needed) Physical Demands of the Role
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crawl, and twist throughout the workday
  • Regularly lift up to 50 lbs; occasionally lift over 75 lbs
