JOB SUMMARY

This is an entry-level, rotating shift position in the warehouse/packaging department. This includes operating the packaging equipment, electric forklifts, and sanitation work throughout the facility. The position will train to be operator relief in all departments and will include conducting Preventive Maintenance work when scheduled. The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the packaging department is running safely and efficiently while maintaining plant sanitation standards in compliance with Food Safety and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) standards. All new hires entering in this role will be required to cross-train in Packing, Flour Load Out, Elevator, and Assistant Milling. Applicants must be drug free and pass a background check.

Able and willing to work all three shifts, 7-day weeks, during holidays, and overtime as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Responsible for operating the packaging equipment and forklifts in a safe and efficient manner.
• Responsible for sanitation on assigned floors and weekly master sanitation tasks. Clean rail cars as needed and learn when rail cars need to be turned down for maintenance.
• Performing preventative maintenance duties around the mill/plant. Assisting maintenance personnel as needed.
• Actively maintaining a safety culture. Always thinking of personal safety and that of your team members. Serve on safety and food safety committees.
• Routinely observe and make decisions to ensure the preservation of the physical facility, including all equipment, utilities, pumps, compressors, boilers, roofs, etc.
• Conduct routine maintenance on the department equipment as scheduled, and maintain the area in a clean, sanitary condition.
• Responsible for sanitation in multiple designated areas.
• Performing different plant projects and other duties as assigned.
• Operational work hours will require all candidates to have flexible schedules for a rotating shift and projected overtime and perform job functions in Grain Craft's physical mill environment, in accordance with set work schedule.

OTHER JOB DUTIES

• Ability to demonstrate detailed orientation, which includes ensuring documentation is complete.
• Ability to complete routine forms, using existing form letter, and/or conduct routine oral communications.
• Ability to operate equipment and ensure it stays in optimal performance specs.
• Ability to work climb ladders and work at elevated heights with proper PPE.
• Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral/written instructions.
• Ability to quickly make decisions that may have immediate impact on the work unit and department.
• Ability to communicate with others effectively, and express or exchange ideas in a respectful manner.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Experience:

Prefers experience in the farming, flour, or food production environment, but not required.
