Job Description

Job Overview Empire Building Materials is looking for a skilled and reliable lumber yard assistant/ load builder. This full-time position will give you the opportunity to work in a high paced environment building customer's work orders while maintaining company inventory and assisting other employees with various daily duties. The position follows standard work methods and practices safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Established in 1954, Empire Building Materials is a wholesale distributor of building products that sells to retail lumber yards and home centers throughout Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Washington. Empire Building Materials maintains its corporate headquarters in Belgrade, Montana, and has distribution facilities in both Butte and Missoula Montana. Competitive wages Paid Holidays/paid vacation & personal days Medical, Dental & Vision 401K/Roth Retirement Plan Options with Employer Contributions Responsibilities Read and comprehend work orders Pull customer's work orders to their specifications and prepare loads for delivery Operates forklift safely and effectively to load, unload and move materials in the yard and warehouse. Maintain and organize inventory in lumberyard and associated warehouse Unload freight from vendors Problem solve and understand basic mathematical calculations Stock Warehouse and manage back stock lumber Perform other work-related duties as assigned by your supervisor as changes in the work environment occur throughout the course of employment. Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience Ability to operate a forklift safely and get certified after training is over Ability to read and comprehend documents such as work orders, safety rules, operating manuals Ability to apply mathematical calculations involving fractions and decimals with whole numbers General warehouse experience Ability to work independently Ability to use power equipment such as miter saws and chain saws for cutting
WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Will be required to frequently lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects from 60lbs up to 100lbs Stand for up to 5 hours at a time Walk long distances throughout the work environment up to but not limited to 1000 yards or more Sit and drive a forklift for up to 5 hours at a time including getting on and off the machine numerous times throughout the day Be exposed to loud noises from machines/tools/ vehicles Be able to perform light construction projects on company buildings and their metal racking used for material storage using power tools and hand tools frequently Occasionally throw straps and secure loads on trailers Work environments include lumberyard/warehouse, all seasons, all weather conditions Working conditions are outdoors exposed to all weather conditions Perform all work functions safely and accurately

$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
