Job Description:
- Kelly Services is hiring a temporary, seasonal Summer Hire
- Packer for a client in Raleigh, NC. This role centers on constructing shipping boxes for animals in a garage/warehouse setting, providing valuable hands-on experience in warehouse and logistics operations. This assignment is intended to support increased summer workload and is dependent on the fulfillment of other roles.

Basic Summary:
- You will be responsible for building, assembling, and maintaining crates needed for animal transportation and shipping operations. The position supports the warehouse and packing operations as required and offers exposure to crate building and logistics support during the busy summer season.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- + Construct, assemble, repair, and maintain wooden shipping crates to meet established specifications and standards + Measure, cut, and prepare materials for crate construction using hand and power tools + Inspect completed crates for structural safety and compliance with shipping regulations + Assist in staging crates, containers, and materials for shipment + Support animal packing and shipping activities, as requested + Unload deliveries and store supplies in designated areas + Organize and maintain inventory of crate-building materials and warehouse supplies + Maintain overall cleanliness and safety of the work environment + Assist with general warehouse projects and materials movement as needed + Follow company safety procedures and equipment handling practices + Perform additional relevant duties as assigned •
Qualifications:
- + No formal education required; preference for students currently enrolled in high school, trade school, or college, or recent graduates + Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, multitask, and pay attention to detail + Experience with hand/power tools, construction, woodworking, or maintenance is preferred + Able to safely lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds + Detail-oriented with the ability to follow written instructions and technical specifications + Able to work independently and as part of a team + Previous experience in a warehouse, stockroom, construction, or manufacturing environment is a plus but not required + Forklift experience is preferred but not required •
Physical Demands:
- + Regularly uses computer/tablet devices and hand tools; frequently stands, handles materials, stoops, crouches, and reaches + Capable of performing repetitive tasks while maintaining quality and safety + Regularly lifts/moves up to 10 pounds; occasionally up to 30 pounds; occasionally 30-50 pounds with assistance + Close vision, depth perception, and color differentiation required + May work with chemicals requiring respirator use (medical clearance needed) •
