Job Title:
General Laborer Job Description This seasonal General Laborer role supports both office operations and yard activities in a fast-paced industrial environment. Working Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, you will assist customers, operate in the scale room, and perform general labor tasks to help keep daily operations running smoothly throughout the summer. Responsibilities Assist customers dropping off materials and provide professional, friendly customer service. Work in the scale room to check in trucks, record weights, and accurately document material information. Perform scrap inspection and sorting as needed to support safe and efficient processing. Support general yard operations, including basic maintenance and organization of the work area. Maintain a clean work environment by sweeping, organizing materials, and removing trash. Follow all safety, environmental, and operational procedures consistently. Assist team members with day-to-day tasks to ensure operations run smoothly and on schedule. Communicate clearly with team members, drivers, and customers to promote safety and efficient workflow. Essential Skills General labor experience or the ability to perform hands-on physical tasks in an industrial setting. Basic production or operations support experience in a fast-paced environment. Customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with drivers and customers. Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude. Ability to work both indoors in an office setting and outdoors in an industrial yard. Comfort working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment with changing priorities. Dependability and strong attention to detail, especially when working in the scale room. Willingness to follow safety procedures and operational guidelines at all times. Additional Skills & Qualifications Comfort interacting with a variety of people, including truck drivers, customers, and operations team members. Ability to balance administrative tasks in the office with physical tasks in the yard. Motivation to learn scale operations, scrap inspection, and basic yard procedures. Positive attitude, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility throughout the duration of the summer assignment. Why Work Here? Safety procedures are a core part of daily operations, and the environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and teamwork during standard weekday daytime hours. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Fargo, ND. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
