Warehouse Worker Job Description This role focuses on Vessel Load Observation (VLO), where you inspect, clean, and evaluate inbound containers for contamination or damage, and accurately document your findings. You will work with a steady flow of containers each week, using basic computer and Excel skills to record issues and support warehouse inventory and quality processes. Responsibilities Perform Vessel Load Observation (VLO) by inspecting inbound containers for contamination, damage, or irregularities. Clean containers as needed to ensure they meet quality and safety standards. Check containers thoroughly for any signs of damage, contamination, or defects before they move further into the warehouse process. Document all issues, damages, and contamination details in an Excel spreadsheet, including how the damage or contamination occurred when known. Oversee and process approximately 16 containers per week, ensuring each container is inspected and recorded accurately. Maintain organized and accurate inventory-related documentation for containers and associated materials. Use computers and Excel to enter, update, and track inspection and inventory information. Follow established warehouse procedures and quality inspection guidelines to maintain consistent standards. Communicate any significant issues or recurring problems with containers to the appropriate internal contacts. Work proactively to identify potential problems early and take action to prevent delays or quality issues. Support general warehouse operations as needed while maintaining a clean and orderly work area. Essential Skills Experience working in a warehouse environment. Ability to perform quality inspections on containers or similar materials. Basic computer skills, including the ability to use Excel for documentation and data entry. Ability to stand for long periods of time during shifts. Strong attention to detail when inspecting and documenting container conditions. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues in a warehouse setting. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience with inventory processes or documentation in a warehouse setting. Comfort working with quality inspection tools or checklists. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple containers and records each week. Work Environment This position is based in a warehouse environment with a focus on container inspection and quality control. You work on a first-shift schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. The role requires standing for long periods and moving around the warehouse to inspect and clean containers. You regularly use computers and Excel to document inspection results and maintain records. The setting is active and hands-on, with typical warehouse conditions such as varying temperatures, noise from equipment, and physical activity throughout the day. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elizabeth, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
