Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Warehouse Worker, Laborer / Scrap Metal Sorter, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining efficient operations within our scrap metal processing facility. This energetic position involves sorting, handling, and managing scrap metal materials while operating heavy equipment and ensuring a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Your efforts will directly contribute to the recycling process, environmental sustainability, and the overall success of our operations. Responsibilities Safely operate heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, front loader trucks, roll-off trucks, garbage trucks, and sanitation vehicles to move and sort scrap metal materials. Sort scrap metal by type, size, and quality to facilitate proper recycling processes. Perform heavy lifting tasks regularly to load and unload materials efficiently. Maintain cleanliness of the work area by removing debris and ensuring proper disposal of waste materials. Assist with sanitation duties to uphold safety standards and a tidy workspace. Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and report any maintenance needs promptly. Support the overall workflow by collaborating with team members to meet daily production goals. Requirements Prior experience operating heavy equipment such as loaders, excavators, forklifts, or similar machinery is highly preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively throughout the shift. Experience in manufacturing or recycling environments is a plus. Knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation and material handling. Strong physical stamina with the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods. Valid certifications for forklift operation or heavy equipment operation are advantageous but not mandatory; training can be provided. Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and adhere to all safety guidelines. New Hire Job Duties/roll Warehouse / Laborer The role we are looking to fill is Outdoor work in a warehouse setting. On your feet all day and constantly unloading scrap metal from customers vehicles utilizing a pound scale, forklift, and various bins/dump hoppers to weigh/grade material accurately. Highly physical labor roll with lots of hand sorting of scrap metal all day. We are looking for a self motivated individual who can encourage those they work with to be productive. Essentially a leadership role in regards to maintaining a clean, efficient, organized scrap metal warehouse. This takes lots of time, focus and effort. Scrap metal continually comes in and it is our job to produce mill ready packages by sorting, processing, cutting and grading the different metals. A general day to day may be as follows. First half hour of the day startup, organize catch up from following day (if needed), sort loads that have been delivered, weigh packages and move inventoried packages to storage in the warehouse. By 8 am create tasks to keep yourself busy and those around you whether it is cleaning, organizing or sorting material that has already come in, this is an ongoing process. Throughout the day handling of customer/peddler traffic (can be very time consuming if not done efficiently) 11 am to noon Organize / stagger lunch with fellow workers to help service customer as they continually come in Noon to 3:30 pm create tasks to keep yourself busy and those around you whether it is cleaning, organizing or sorting material that has already come in, this is an ongoing process all day. 3:30 pm to 4 pm (close) have the warehouse and work areas clean so as to start the next day off better than the last Throughout a given day an employee here needs major flexibility and to be able to pivot to keep up with inbound flow or out bound flows such as sorting loads or loading semi trucks. We work Monday - Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm with a half hour lunch and 8:00 am to Noon on Saturdays a 44 hour work week with overtime pay. The big goal for our next hire is someone with accountability, leadership, and a willingness to keep the scrap metal and company moving forward.

$15.00 - $20.00 per hour
