Required Position Summary The Material Handler is responsible for ensuring the efficient movement, storage, organization, and delivery of raw materials, and supplies throughout the facility and off-site warehouse location. This position plays a critical role in supporting production operations by maintaining inventory accuracy, staging materials for manufacturing, operating material handling equipment, and ensuring a safe, organized, and efficient work environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Material Handling & Inventory Management Perform daily inventory checks of raw materials required for production using inventory tracking systems. Monitor material availability to support at least 48 hours of production requirements. Pull, stage, and prepare raw materials for production as required. Break down mixed pallets of raw materials, properly label products, and store materials in designated locations. Conduct inventory counts, spot checks, and cycle counts as assigned. Maintain inventory accuracy and communicate shortages or discrepancies promptly. Shipping, Receiving & Transportation Receive, unload, inspect, and store incoming raw materials and supplies. Unload full truckloads of raw materials, carbon black, and other production supplies while following FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices. Transport materials, supplies, and inventory between the main facility and satellite warehouse locations. Operate tow motors, pallet jacks, and company box trucks safely and efficiently. Verify incoming shipments against packing slips and receiving documentation. Warehouse & Facility Organization Maintain organization and cleanliness of warehouse, storage, shipping, and receiving areas. Ensure raw material storage locations are properly organized and identified. Maintain cleanliness and organization of exterior storage areas, awnings, and surrounding property. Assist with maintaining a safe and efficient work environment throughout the facility. Production Support Coordinate with production personnel to ensure timely delivery of required materials. Support manufacturing operations by supplying materials and removing unused inventory. Complete and submit daily production and inventory reporting accurately and on time. Assist with production, weigh-out, or other operational duties as directed by management. Perform additional duties as assigned to support business needs. Safety Responsibilities Safety is a core responsibility of every employee. The Material Handler is expected to: Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses and protective footwear. Adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when applicable. Immediately report safety concerns, hazards, near misses, and injuries. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Safely operate tow motors, and other material handling equipment. Participate in all required safety training and annual refresher programs. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. Valid driver's license. Minimum two (2) years of warehouse, manufacturing, shipping/receiving, or material handling experience preferred. Ability to safely operate tow motors, pallet jacks, and box trucks. Basic computer skills for inventory tracking, reporting, and communication. Ability to read and follow written instructions, inventory records, and shipping documentation. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Use hands and fingers to handle, inspect, position, and move materials. Reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and place materials. Communicate effectively with coworkers, Line Techs and Mangement. Visually inspect materials, equipment, inventory, and work areas. Perform repetitive motions associated with warehouse and material handling tasks. Physical Demand Level Medium to Heavy Work Exert up to 60 pounds of force frequently. Exert up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work Environment Manufacturing facility Warehouse environment Indoor and outdoor work areas Exposure to tow motors, industrial equipment, production machinery, and varying temperatures Frequent interaction with production, warehouse, and transportation personnel Continuous Improvement Employee is expected to actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and workplace organization.
