Job Title:
Material Handler Job Description The Material Handler loads, unloads, transports, and organizes materials throughout the plant to support efficient production and inventory flow. This role involves reading work orders, staging materials, operating forklifts and material handling equipment, and maintaining a clean and organized storage area. The Material Handler ensures materials are accurately identified, labeled, and verified against purchase orders or packing lists while following safety procedures and working independently with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Load and unload materials from trucks and other vehicles using forklifts, pallet jacks, and related equipment. Transport materials throughout the plant and deliver them to designated locations according to work orders or material lists. Stage materials for production, ensuring the correct items and quantities are available for upcoming jobs. Open containers using hand tools and prepare materials for use or storage. Verify inbound and outbound materials against purchase orders, packing lists, or other documentation to ensure accuracy. Label materials with identifying information such as purchase order numbers, job numbers, and other required details. Safely secure loads using straps, bracing, and padding to prevent shifting or damage during transport. Maintain a clean, organized, and accessible storage area to support efficient material retrieval and inventory management. Read and interpret work orders, material lists, and basic documentation related to material handling tasks. Use a tape measure and perform basic math to confirm dimensions, quantities, and material specifications. Identify common steel shapes and other industrial materials as needed for staging and inventory. Build pallets for products using hand and power tools when required. Use RF scanners to track, locate, and update inventory information. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating forklifts, hand tools, and power tools. Work independently while following instructions and production priorities to complete daily material handling tasks. Essential Skills 6 months to 1 year of material handling or warehouse experience. 1 to 2 years of warehouse or manufacturing experience. Proficiency operating sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment. Experience with pallet jacks and general loading and unloading of materials. Ability to work independently and follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math for measurements and counts. Experience using hand and power tools for tasks such as pallet building. Familiarity with RF scanners for inventory tracking and material staging. Ability to perform general labor tasks in a production or warehouse environment. Capability to organize and maintain storage areas for efficient material access. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with steel or other industrial materials. Experience working in a non-temperature-controlled or semi climate-controlled manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret work orders or material lists. Experience with inventory handling in a production setting. Comfort operating material handling equipment for extended periods. Strong attention to detail when verifying materials against purchase orders and packing lists. Why Work Here? You will work around industrial materials, including steel and other heavy products, and regularly use forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, and hand and power tools. The environment includes active production areas, storage spaces, and loading docks, requiring safe movement of materials and adherence to safety practices. Dress typically includes appropriate work attire suitable for a manufacturing setting, along with required personal protective equipment as needed. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Broken Arrow, OK. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
