In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently handling, moving, and organizing steel materials within the shop environment. Your efforts will ensure smooth operations in shipping, receiving, and inventory management, supporting our commitment to safety, quality, and productivity. The ideal candidate will possess strong warehouse experience, mechanical aptitude, and proficiency with heavy equipment operation. This position offers an engaging opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team focused on precision and safety. Duties Safely load and unload steel materials using forklifts, clamp trucks, and other heavy equipment in compliance with OSHA standards. Operate RF scanners and warehouse management systems for accurate order picking, shipping, and receiving documentation. Utilize cranes, pallet jacks, and other mechanical tools to move heavy steel components efficiently within the shop. Assist with order picking processes, ensuring correct materials are selected according to specifications. Maintain organized storage areas by stacking and arranging materials on pallets or racks for easy access. Support shipping and receiving operations by verifying incoming and outgoing shipments against purchase orders. Conduct regular inspections of equipment such as forklifts and clamp trucks to ensure safety and proper functioning. Perform heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to established safety protocols. Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize inventory control and material flow. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations related to warehouse safety and material handling procedures. Qualifications Proven warehouse distribution experience with a focus on steel or construction materials preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in order picker operations, forklift driving, crane operation, and heavy equipment handling. Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), RF scanners, and inventory control processes. Mechanical knowledge related to material handling equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Prior experience working in shipping & receiving environments within a construction or manufacturing setting. Familiarity with OSHA safety standards applicable to warehouse operations. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently throughout the shift. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in order picking and inventory management. Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and supervisors.
