Description We operate bar processing equipment and vacuum melting furnaces at our facilities in Aliquippa. We serve customers in the medical, industrial, and aerospace industries, as well as research and development projects. Summary Assists in the production of specialty metals manufacturing, intermediate & final product inspections, and intermediate & final packaging of product within the bar processing center. Maintains quality standards by ensuring finished products meet all customer specifications and quality requirements; recording quality results; and preparing material for final shipment. II.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None III. Essential Duties, Responsibilities, & Authorities Perform precision dimensional inspections using measurement tools, including 2-point micrometers, calipers, calibrated taper measurers, profilometers, and tape gauges. Always verify inspection tools being used are calibrated when required. Maintain identity of material at all times (heat number, lot number, piece IDs, etc.). Inspection of intermediate and final product. Perform dye penetrant inspections and spot grinding to remove defects as needed. Responsible for performing thorough visual inspections examining materials for quality and defects. Closely follow written instructions and keep thorough records of observations and measurements. Reject and report unacceptable materials. Responsible for a final in-depth inspection before signing off and approving product. Return products for re-work/perform re-work and summarize re-work and material loss. Driving fork truck and using overhead crane to safely move material through shop. Clean products for final packaging as directed. Packaging of materials for intermediate and final shipment. Maintaining a clean and safe workplace. Make recommendations for improvements. Performs other duties as assigned. IV. Qualifications and Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications and requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary to do so.Minimum:
Experience using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers and surface finish gauges. Experience with hand and power tools. Basic math and literacy skills. Observant and detailed. Positive attitude, good attendance, attention to detail, and the ability and desire to learn. Strong communication skills and pride in the quality of one's work. Manufacturing experience preferred. Experience withAS9100/ISO9001
quality systems preferred. V. Work Environment This is an open warehouse environment with exposure to various noise, weather, and temperature conditions. VI. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work on feet, stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop. Regularly need to lift and move objects weighing up to 55 pounds. Ability to tighten bolts, climb ladders, operate crane, and drive fork truck. Any candidate offered a position must pass a pre-employment physical, vision screening, drug test, and background check.
