The Material Handler is responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, movement, transaction, and issuance of materials used in the manufacture of medical devices. This position plays a critical role in supporting production operations by ensuring inventory accuracy, material traceability, and compliance with applicable quality system requirements. Adherence to established Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Good Documentation Practices (GDPs), and Quality Management System (QMS) is essential. Principle Duties / Responsibilities:
Material Receipt and Inspection Support Receive incoming raw materials, components, packaging materials, and supplies. Verify received quantities against purchase orders, packing slips, and receiving documentation. Ensure materials are properly identified and routed to designated inspection, quarantine, or inventory locations. Report damaged materials, shortages, or discrepancies to Quality and Supply Chain personnel. Inventory Control and Traceability Accurately perform inventory transactions within the ERP/MRP system. Maintain lot number, batch number, and serial number traceability as required. Ensure proper status identification of materials including: Quarantine, Released , Rejected, Expired, or Nonconforming Support cycle counts, inventory audits, and physical inventory activities. Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies. Production Material Support Pick, stage, and deliver materials to manufacturing areas according to production schedules. Ensure materials are available to support production without interruption. Return excess materials and accurately transact inventory movements. Transfer work-in-process (WIP) between departments while maintaining traceability. Adhere to safety standards, including OSHA requirements, and company policies. Comply with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs), Standard Work Instructions (SWIs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Documentation Practices (GDPs), and Quality Management System (QMS). Other duties as assigned. Experience / Core Competencies:
Working knowledge of Epicor ERP or similar ERP systems for job traveler creation and execution. Strong understanding of material handling and manufacturing workflows. Experience with bandsaw operation and material preparation. Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams, including supervisors and production planners Working knowledge of SOP, SWI, cGMP, GDP and QMS requirements Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Working knowledge of measuring tools, i.e., calipers, micrometers, vision systems, hard gages, etc. Ability to read and interpret blueprints Demonstrated ability to work in a production environment and adapt to changing priorities Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to work independently with a strong sense of urgency and effectively manage multiple tasks under pressure. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Strong finger and hand dexterity. Strong visual and auditory acuity. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. Required / Preferred
Education High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required. Preferred 1 year of Manufacturing Experience or Equivalent.
