Now Hiring General Laborers for a Manufacturing Facility in Chambersburg, PA 1st shift! Weekly Pay Second Chance/ Background Friendly Full-time/Long-term Job Description This position involves working with rolls coming down the conveyor belt, taking them off, and stacking them accordingly. You will assist in the lacing, starting, and stopping of the machine to run materials through for production while maintaining correct line speed. Additionally, you will inspect, repair, and stage rolls for production, which includes bringing them from the storage area, removing busted edges with a sheet stripper, and sanding the wheel grind. The roll of felt will then be staged for the machine to run. You will record all necessary information for the dry felt rolls used during your shift daily, as well as document all paper breaks and machine downtime on the Lost Productivity Record. Responsibilities Remove rolls from the conveyor belt and stack them. Assist with machine lacing, starting, and stopping for production. Maintain correct line speed during production. Inspect, repair, and stage rolls for production. Prepare rolls by removing busted edges and sanding wheel grind. Record information for dry felt rolls used during shift. Document paper breaks and machine downtime. Essential Skills Experience as a machine operator. Proficiency with power tools. General labor skills. Hand tool usage. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in roofing and construction. Background in production. Ability to perform general cleaning. Skills in stacking and counting. Record-keeping proficiency. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing environment that includes running machines and forklifts. The facility specializes in manufacturing roofing materials, which results in a strong asphalt smell from the product. It is not climate-controlled and can be hot during the summer months. Work hours are Monday from 10am-6pm, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6am-6pm, Thursday from 6am-2pm, and Friday varies, with shutdowns occurring in January through February, working Monday-Friday 7am-3pm during that period. Employees on a 12-hour shift receive two 15-minute breaks and one 30-minute lunch break, while those on an 8-hour day have one 15-minute break and a 30-minute lunch. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chambersburg, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.75 - $17.99/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
