Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and dependable General Laborer to join our Public Works team. In this vital role, you will perform a variety of manual tasks to support infrastructure maintenance, construction projects, and public utility services. Your hands-on work will help ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality public spaces and facilities. This position offers an engaging environment where teamwork, safety, and community impact are at the forefront of daily activities. Responsibilities Performs general maintenance and repairs on a variety of structures, facilities, equipment, streets, parks and/or other Town property. Operates various mechanical equipment, construction and/or lawn care equipment and tools, and specialized tools and equipment. Operates a wide variety of light and medium equipment and machinery, e.g. automobiles, pickup truck, dump truck, lawn mowers. Operates various standard and hand-held manual, electrical, and gas-powered tools and equipment, e.g. hammer, shovel, rake, screwdrivers, wrenches, chainsaw, leaf blowers, weed eaters, hedge trimmers, edger. Performs a variety of labor-intensive skilled work which may include exposure to difficult working conditions, e.g. extreme heat or cold. Maintains equipment, tools and supply inventory levels; cleans, maintains and adjusts tools, equipment and machinery, e.g. maintains fluids, performs general servicing and minor repairs. May perform a variety of routine custodial and maintenance tasks, e.g. edging, mowing, trimming, waste removal. Must be available for on-call shifts. Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently while adhering to quality standards. Skills Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions. Ability to drive safely and independently. Strong teamwork skills with a proactive attitude towards safety and efficiency.
