Job Description
Material Handler Sunbelt Solomon United States, Tennessee, Decatur 201 Polymer Drive (Show on map) Mar 12, 2026 The Material Handler Yard is responsible for moving, storing, and managing various materials for transformers. They play a key role in the supply chain and logistics, ensuring that products are available to the team when needed and that shipments are on time and meet quality standards. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards and company policies are essential functions of this role. Ensures orderly production and distribution of products by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies where needed, and staging finished product final distribution.
Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.
Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
Documents materials and records units delivered and location of units.
Prepares finished stock for shipment by identifying, pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing product.
Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections.
Operates forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move items, or signals machine operators to move materials
Keeps inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean.
Receive and inspect incoming materials and products for quality, quantity, and accuracy of shipment.
Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or other areas.
Mark units with identification tags or other labeling equipment.
Handling documentation of work orders, bills of lading, and shipping orders to route materials.
Maintain inventory transactions and perform cycle counts to ensure accuracy of stock levels.
Assist with inventory control and audits as needed.
Maintain safe, clean, and orderly workstation.
Other assigned duties as needed.
High School or GED required
- 1 year experience material handling equipment (forklift, crane, etc.), preferred
- WMS (Warehouse Management System) experience, preferred
- OSHA10 certified, preferred Proven track record in safety excellence is required.
- Bending, squatting and kneeling multiple times for long durations The ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple time Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods of time Facilities are not climate controlled, so comfortability in working in warm and cold workplace environments
