Job Title:
Material Handler Job Description The Material Handler supports the installation of advanced material handling systems in a large distribution center by safely moving materials, assisting with the build of robotic arms and stations, and performing general labor tasks. This non-technical role involves frequent use of pallet jacks, hand and air-powered tools, and requires comfort working on mezzanine and sub-mezzanine levels in an active construction environment. Responsibilities Move materials throughout the facility using pallet jacks, including running materials up the elevator as needed. Use pallet jacks to move, strap, and catalogue materials accurately and safely. Assist with the installation of approximately 20 robotic arms, 40 sub-stations, and internal site fencing. Support project teams by building robotic arms and stations according to provided diagrams and instructions. Use hand and air-powered tools to commission towers and related components following step-by-step instructions. Run wiring for power supply and related material handling equipment under guidance. Perform general labor tasks including sweeping, pushing a broom, cleaning the warehouse, and removing trash and debris. Handle moderate to heavy lifting on a regular basis as part of daily duties. Support multiple functions such as inventory, loading, packaging, and housekeeping as needed. Follow directions closely, adhere to safety procedures, and maintain a professional and presentable demeanor on site. Work effectively in a busy, sometimes crowded construction environment while maintaining good attendance and reliability. Essential Skills Ability to consistently lift 40-50 pounds throughout an 8-hour shift. Experience working full shifts on hard cement floors and comfort in a physically demanding role. Ability to use pallet jacks to move, strap, and organize materials. Capability and willingness to use hand tools and air-powered tools safely. Ability to follow detailed, step-by-step instructions and work from diagrams. Strong reliability with good attendance and punctuality. Ability to take direction well and work cooperatively with project teams. Openness to performing a variety of tasks, including inventory, housekeeping, loading, packaging, and general labor. Comfort working in a construction-like environment that can be messy, loud, and crowded at times. Commitment to maintaining a professional and presentable appearance on site. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in material handling or warehouse operations. Exposure to robotics installations or material handling automation projects. general labor or construction environments. Experience with loading, packaging, and cleaning in industrial or distribution settings. Familiarity with working on mezzanine and sub-mezzanine levels. Why Work Here? You will work around active installation projects for robotic arms, sub-stations, and internal fencing, using pallet jacks, hand tools, and air-powered tools. There is a high level of visibility with on-site stakeholders, so maintaining a professional and presentable appearance is important. Required attire includes appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as a high-visibility vest, safety glasses, hard hat, A6 cut-resistant gloves, and steel-toe shoes or boots. Jeans and t-shirts are acceptable, provided clothing is not loose or baggy and is suitable for a construction-style environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Louisville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
