Material Handler

Position Summary:

Position is responsible for operating forklifts and hydraulic lifting machinery for moving materials and heavy objects. Work includes loading and unloading trucks, moving materials from one location to another, stacking pallets onto platforms and racks. The operator will refuel or recharge the vehicle and check the oil and battery. Operators may also work as stock clerk, shipping clerk, receiving clerk, or warehouse worker when not driving a forklift.

• Operating a forklift and/or hydraulic lifting machinery.
• Load and unload trucks, move, stack and place materials as needed.
• Follow safety procedures and instructions.
• Responsible for troubleshooting problems and maintaining the forklift equipment.
• May be assigned as stock clerk, shipping clerk, receiving clerk, or warehouse worker when not driving a forklift.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required.
• Previous forklift experience is required; certification is a plus.
• Must be able to judge the height of ceilings and doorways, maneuver between stacks of material and pass through narrow doorways safely.
• Ability to read and interpret documents and respond to questions.
• Must be organized, self-motivated, detail oriented individual with the ability to multi-task and follow instructions.
• Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
• Works under immediate supervision.
• Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to approximately 75 pounds.

Pay:

From $16.00 per hour
