GED Full Job Description Resumen:
The Gang Foreman leads a work crew ("gang") in marine terminal operations, overseeing daily activities such as cargo handling, vessel operations, equipment usage, and yard or dock work. This role is responsible for ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and to operational standards, while serving as the primary link between frontline labor and terminal supervision.
Calificaciones:
High school diploma or equivalent required. 4-6 months of industry experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Must possess a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card. Strong understanding of terminal operations, cargo handling, and safety protocols. Effective leadership, communication, and coordination skills. Ability to work independently and follow operational plans and instructions.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Subject to physical screening and applicable tests. Frequent exposure to outdoor environmental conditions including extreme heat, rain, wind, cold, and humidity during day and night shifts. Frequent standing, walking, climbing (including vertical ladders over 50 ft), bending, squatting, and reaching overhead. Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 30 pounds. Frequent work at heights and in confined spaces. Requires eye-hand coordination and physical stamina. Continuous exposure to dust, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate to high noise levels. May be required to work holidays and weekends as needed.
Responsabilidades:
Direct and oversee longshore workers during cargo operations in the vessel hold. Ensure all safety standards are followed and proactively identify and report hazards. Execute loading and unloading activities as directed by the Superintendent and Walking Foreman. Ensure cargo stowage aligns with instructions from the Port Captain and/or Superintendent. Assist longshore workers with operational tasks, including heavy equipment operation, blocking, and chalking. Signal crane operators to coordinate safe and efficient cargo movement. Lead the gang in daily operations, ensuring productivity and safety meet company standards. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Perform other related duties as assigned
