This position is responsible for the safe movement, organization, inspection, loading, unloading, and quality control of heavy construction equipment ("yellow iron"), attachments, and related assets. The ideal candidate will have basic mechanical knowledge, experience operating heavy equipment and forklifts, and the ability to identify equipment deficiencies to ensure machines meet company quality standards before delivery, rental, or sale. Essential Functions Safely load, unload, transport, and position heavy construction equipment, attachments, and materials throughout the yard. Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment to move parts, attachments, and supplies. Perform pre-delivery and post-return inspections on equipment to verify operational readiness and quality standards. Conduct quality control checks on heavy equipment, identifying visible damage, leaks, wear, safety concerns, or maintenance issues and reporting findings to management. Utilize basic mechanical knowledge to perform minor adjustments, inspections, and troubleshooting of equipment. Wash, clean, detail, and prepare equipment for customer delivery, rental, sale, or service using wash bay equipment and pressure washers. Maintain an organized and efficient yard layout, ensuring equipment and attachments are properly stored and easily accessible. Manage and maintain equipment keys, inspection records, and shipping documentation accurately and timely. Assist with inventory control of equipment, attachments, and yard assets. Follow all company safety policies and procedures while maintaining a clean and professional work environment. Ensure reliable attendance and punctuality. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED preferred. Minimum six (6) months of experience in a related construction, equipment, or industrial yard environment. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Ability to safely operate forklifts and heavy construction equipment; experience preferred. Basic mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment, diesel-powered machinery, and construction equipment. Ability to perform equipment inspections and quality control evaluations. Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds without assistance. Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment safely. Ability to squat, kneel, bend, twist, stoop, reach overhead, and work in various positions throughout the day. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, dust, and wind. Ability to tolerate exposure to equipment noise, vibrations, fuels, lubricants, and other typical yard construction conditions. Must wear and maintain required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Work Environment This position is primarily performed outdoors in a heavy equipment yard and requires frequent operation and movement of large construction equipment ("yellow iron"), forklifts, and attachments. Safety, situational awareness, and attention to detail are essential to success in this role.
