Forklift Operator Job Description The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely receiving, processing, storing, and shipping inventory in alignment with system orders. This role involves operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment to load and unload trucks and sea containers, organize incoming stock, and ensure all orders ship accurately and on time. The position requires hands-on experience maneuvering forklifts in both warehouse and production environments while maintaining accurate inventory records in logistics software. The Schedule for this position will be a second shift from 2-10:30 PM. Responsibilities Receive, process, store, and ship inventory according to orders in the system. Load and unload trucks and sea containers using a forklift and other appropriate tools. Handle and accommodate fragile merchandise with care to prevent damage. Organize and stage incoming stock in designated warehouse locations. Ensure all customer and internal orders are prepared and shipped in full and on time. Track and document exact shipment quantities, product conditions, and arrival and departure times. Report any missing, extra, or damaged merchandise promptly. Prepare all orders for shipment and transfers according to established procedures. Record and manage merchandise placed on hold, aged inventory, and damaged items. Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks in a safe and efficient manner. Enter and update data accurately in inventory and logistics software programs. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with warehouse standards. Work both independently and as part of a team to meet daily productivity and accuracy goals. Essential Skills Minimum of 2+ years of forklift driving experience, preferably within a warehouse setting. Demonstrated experience operating forklifts for loading, unloading, and transporting materials safely and efficiently. Warehouse experience, including handling, organizing, and storing inventory. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as needed. Ability to work in freezer environments with temperatures between 40-55 degrees Fahrenheit. Basic computer skills for entering and updating data in inventory and logistics software. Strong organizational and time-management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Proficient written and verbal communication skills for reporting and documentation. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Additional Skills & Qualifications Hands-on experience maneuvering forklifts in both warehouse and production settings. Comfort using merchandise management tools such as pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment. Attention to detail when tracking shipment quantities, conditions, and timing. You will use equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and computer-based inventory and logistics software. The environment emphasizes safety, organization, and efficient movement of goods throughout the facility. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
