COLLECTIONS's role within the big picture of the City's overall success . Performs low-skilled and unskilled strenuous manual labor for the Public Works department, focusing on diagnosing, and repairing water and sewer issues, ensuring team and customer safety.LABORER - WATER DISTRIBUTION AND COLLECTIONS
functions include but are not limited to the following:Manual Labor and Equipment Operation:
Perform manual labor tasks for sewer lines and water mains, operate equipment like air and jack hammers, forklifts, and Bobcats. Drive city vehicles with utility trailers and operate specialized equipment for daily maintenance.Water Main and Meter Work:
Connect water meters to water mains, operate fire hydrants, and diagnose and repair water main breaks. Respond to low or no water pressure calls, test meter connections, and repair/replace water meters. Utilize handheld devices to gather information on residents' water meter readings, ensuring accurate billing by matching MXU numbers with registers. Respond to water leaks by initiating the necessary procedures, including calling locates, preparing equipment, and addressing the situation with appropriate safety measures.Sanitary Sewer Diagnoses and Repairs:
Investigate and diagnose sewer blockages, respond to resident calls, and clear blockages using suction or pressure. Excavate pipes, cut broken sections, remove blockages, and replace pipes as needed.Restoration and Maintenance:
Replace grass and assist in concrete repairs after excavations. Clean and maintain tools, update inventory, and identify parts for ordering.Water Quality Maintenance :
