About Central Texas Food Bank The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in Central Texas and a proud member of the Feeding America network. From its headquarters in Austin, CTFB serves a 21-county region on a mission to increase food access by providing nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts, and transforming lives through programs, education, and innovative solutions. Position Overview The Warehouse Receiver is responsible for receiving new and returned product as it enters the building; ensuring product is in good condition and is ready for distribution to our Neighbors and controlling the inbound flow of the dock. As needed, perform general warehouse duties and assist with the sanitation, inventory, picking and shipping of all products, from the warehouse facility. This includes the physical handling of products, rotation of stock, inspection of items, and operation of material handling equipment. Your Qualifications High school Diploma or equivalent. Basic Math, Reading and Writing Skills in the English language. Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks. Capable of following directions and communicating effectively. Experience providing superior customer service by fulfilling orders with 100% accuracy. Capable of working under pressure, completing various assignments responsibly and in a timely manner Unwavering commitment to quality and excellence in organizational department goals and production standards. Strong work ethic with the tenacity to work under pressure Skills in operating and maintenance of warehouse equipment including pallet jacks, electric pallet jacks, forklifts, coolers, freezers, electronic scales, etc. Forklift Certification is preferred and knowledge of Material Handling Equipment. Your Responsibilities Complete all assignments in accordance with food safety and handling regulations to ensure the integrity of products through proper inspection, handling, and storage procedures. Unload and receive inbound trucks as required, Receive, unload and store incoming materials, following protocol when inspecting product and weighing and tagging all products received, assigning product codes to all inbound items Verify information on packing slips with the purchase orders or return shipments from customers. Inspect receipts for damages or defects; record discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor. Ensure accurate and timely information is forwarded for input into the software system. Stage product for storage on warehouse racks or cold storage. Operates forklift, tier lift truck, or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area. Maintain good housekeeping practices in the packaging storage area and warehouse. Examine condition of product as it arrives from various carriers. Document overages / shorts / damages, expiration dates, product temperature, trailer condition, evidence of pest infestation or product tampering. Print pallet labels, enter purchase orders into computer and assign storage. Continually meet assigned production standards. Maintain a quality of work that limits mispicks, shorts and damages. Work in warm and cold temperature conditions that may range from 0 degrees F to 110°F. Follow established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and safety standards. Ensure proper inspection, handling, storage, and distribution of all inventories in accordance with USDA, DOH, Safe Food Handling, OSHA. Ensure consistent application of "first-in first-out" rule as it relates to stocking and distribution of product, ensuring proper storage separation of food and non-food items. Inspect products to determine quality. Continuously check inventory for expiration dates, any signs of contamination, or other signs of unsafe distribution. Assist with physical inventory of products. Use material handling equipment and maintain equipment-charging areas. Work independently and in a team environment. Comply with company attendance policy. Participate in the implementation of Safety Guidelines and Standards. Commit to supporting CTFB's mission, vision, values, and culture. Other duties may be assigned.
Working Conditions Hours of Operation:
Warehouse personnel work in 8-hour shifts or until daily workload is completed, Monday-Friday, Exceptions are during peak seasons (Holiday/Disaster Response) where some overtime may be required. Mandatory weekends are during Annual Inventory and Bi-Annual AIB Audits. Warehouse Receiver position operates two shifts: Monday - Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm; and 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. A Saturday shift may be required.Environment:
Involves activities in both office and warehouse environments. There are extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, and bending, listening, talking and/or visual concentration. The noise in the work environment is usually moderate to loudTravel:
CTFB serves 21 counties in central Texas and often requires same-day travel between counties, using a personal vehicle, CTFB passenger fleet and possibly occasional out of town travel for meetings, special events or meetings for some positions.OSHA Standards:
Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, grasp and reach above the head continuously for a period of two hours or more.
