Job Title:
Skilled Laborer Job Description This role involves performing a wide range of construction and general labor tasks with a focus on concrete work and support for production operations. You will contribute to the construction and precast concrete production process through hands-on work, safe operation of tools and equipment, and effective collaboration with a team on site and in the yard. Responsibilities Perform general construction labor tasks, including site preparation, cleanup, and material handling. Assist with concrete work, including preparing, placing, and finishing concrete for precast products and related structures. Handle and move heavy materials and products safely, including frequent heavy lifting. Operate and assist with operating machines and equipment used in the production process under appropriate supervision and training. Support machine operators by supplying materials, monitoring product flow, and performing basic adjustments as directed. Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for carpentry, concrete work, and general labor tasks. Measure materials accurately using a tape measure to ensure proper dimensions and alignment. Perform basic carpentry tasks related to forms, framing, or other construction components as needed. Assist with landscaping or yard work associated with the construction or production site when required. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by performing regular cleaning and general labor duties. Follow all safety procedures, guidelines, and instructions to protect yourself, your team, and company equipment. Work as part of a team, communicating effectively with coworkers and supervisors to complete projects on time. Essential Skills Experience in construction labor, including exposure to active construction or production sites. Hands-on experience with concrete work, such as mixing, placing, or finishing concrete. Background in general labor roles involving physical work and heavy lifting. Ability to safely lift and move heavy materials throughout the workday. Experience using hand tools, including hammers, wrenches, and similar basic tools. Experience using power tools in a construction or industrial environment. Basic carpentry skills, including working with wood, forms, or framing components. Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for cutting, measuring, and layout tasks. Willingness to work in a team environment and follow directions from supervisors and machine operators. Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior experience in concrete labor or precast concrete production is beneficial. Background in landscaping or outdoor labor is an advantage. Familiarity with assisting machine operators in a production setting. Interest in developing skills in heavy equipment operation and construction supervision over time. Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to perform a variety of physical tasks. Why Work Here? Work Environment You will work in a construction and precast concrete production environment in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeastern regions, both outdoors and in production areas. Work is generally steady and consistent, with a focus on meeting production and project schedules. You can expect to work around concrete materials, forms, and machinery, and to perform general labor, cleaning, and yard duties as needed, while following all safety procedures appropriate to an active construction and production setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Glen Allen, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
