The General Labor team supports daily greenhouse and production operations by planting, processing, harvesting, assembling, packing, and shipping live plant products. This role works across greenhouse and production barn environments and supports multiple operational areas based on business needs. The ideal candidate is dependable, quality-focused, safety-conscious, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. The Plant Company operates as a collaborative team environment, and employees may be asked to assist in areas outside of their primary assignment as operational needs change. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
This position may perform any of the following duties: Planting & Production Plant seeds, cuttings, tissue cultures, and liners using hands, hand tools, and mechanical planting equipment Space, sort, and grade plants based on size, quality, and customer specifications Transplant, pot, prune, clean, and label plants according to company quality standards Observe plants for insects, disease, or quality concerns and communicate issues to leadership Record plant batch information, counts, and production data accurately Assembly & Processing Assemble carts and prepare materials used for transporting plants throughout the facility Perform bowl assembly by placing plants into prefilled bowls, applying corks and name tags, and verifying quality standards prior to shipment Wash and prepare plants by loosening soil, cleaning roots, and placing plants into approved containers for assembly or shipment Sort liners and plant material according to size and shipping specifications Shipping & Logistics Process, pack, label, box, and prepare plants for shipment according to customer requirements Transport plants and materials between greenhouse and production areas Unload, sort, and organize incoming shipments of seeds, cuttings, tissue culture, and other plant materials Operate forklifts or other powered equipment when trained and authorized General Facility Support Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, equipment, and production spaces Follow company safety procedures and quality standards at all times Support other departments and operational areas as needed Perform other duties as assigned WORK SCHEDULE & ENVIRONMENT
Flexible work hours may vary throughout the growing season based on production and shipping demands Typical schedule is Monday through Friday; however, weekend work, and overtime may be required Agriculture exemption applies Work is performed in greenhouse and production environments with exposure to humidity, varying temperatures, water, soil, and typical greenhouse conditions REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, repetitive production environment Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards Positive attitude and willingness to work as part of a team Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing production needs Basic math and counting skills Ability to work safely around equipment and moving carts Dependable attendance and strong work ethic Ability to work independently with minimal supervision EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent preferred Previous greenhouse, agricultural, manufacturing, warehouse, or production experience preferred Forklift experience preferred, but not required Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, stoop, climb, pull, and lift throughout the workday Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 55 pounds Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods of time Ability to work in varying greenhouse and production conditions, including heat and humidity The Plant Company is an equal opportunity employer
