Job Title:
Material Handler - Water Spider / Warehouse Logistics Specialist Job Description This role combines hands-on material handling with inventory control and light machine shop support. You will load, unload, and move materials using powered and manual equipment, maintain accurate inventory records in an MRP system, and support production by assisting with deburring and sanding parts in the machine shop. The position requires strong attention to detail, safe equipment operation, and the ability to manage both physical and clerical tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Complete inventory of parts using an MRP system and ensure accurate tracking of all materials and components. Load and unload ocean containers and trucks safely using a crowbar, claw hammer, and other appropriate hand tools. Operate forklifts, stock pickers, pallet jacks, and hand trucks to move inventory and materials to and from warehouses and storage areas. Pick and stage inventory in accordance with sales orders, work orders, and material requisitions to support production and shipping schedules. Manage manual and clerical tasks related to shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and delivering a wide variety of materials, equipment, and supplies. Maintain the stockroom in an orderly, clean, and organized manner to support efficient material flow and easy access to inventory. Perform data entry to update inventory records, shipping and receiving documentation, and other material control information. Process incoming shipments by receiving, inspecting, and recording materials and ensuring they are stored in the correct locations. Process outgoing shipments by preparing documentation, confirming order accuracy, and coordinating timely dispatch. Prepare and package spare parts and machine orders for shipping, including special assignments as required by operations or customers. Spend the first half of the day focused on material movement, including forklift and pallet jack operation, and related warehouse logistics tasks. Assist in the machine shop during the second half of the day by deburring and sanding parts to support production quality and throughput. Follow all safety procedures when operating equipment and handling materials, and report any hazards or issues promptly. Collaborate with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to resolve inventory discrepancies and improve material flow. Essential Skills Minimum 2 to 3 years of related inventory experience, including generating proper documentation for shipping, receiving, and material control. Proven experience with inventory management, including cycle counts and stockroom organization. Hands-on experience in shipping and receiving operations, including processing incoming and outgoing shipments. Demonstrated ability in order picking, packing, and staging inventory against sales orders, work orders, and material requisitions. Proficiency in operating forklifts, pallet jacks, stock pickers, and hand trucks in a warehouse or manufacturing environment. Valid driver's license to support material handling and logistics activities as required. Ability to perform deburring and sanding of parts in a machine shop environment. PC literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel for documentation and data entry. Experience using an MRP system or similar software to track inventory and material movements. Strong data entry skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate inventory and shipping records. Ability to manage both manual and clerical work related to material handling and logistics. Capability to use hand tools such as crowbars and claw hammers safely and effectively. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working in a manufacturing or machine shop environment, particularly with precision equipment or components. Familiarity with remote inventory tools or systems that support distributed material tracking. Comfort working with evolving software and hardware tools related to inventory, logistics, and production support. Strong organizational skills and the ability to maintain a clean, orderly stockroom and work area. Effective communication skills to coordinate with warehouse, production, and logistics teams. Work Environment The role is based in a precision waterjet machine manufacturing facility located in Kent, WA. The position also requires time in a machine shop, assisting with deburring and sanding parts, which involves working around production equipment and metal components. The workday is typically split between material movement and warehouse tasks in the first half, and machine shop support in the second half. You can expect a structured, process-oriented setting where safety, organization, and precision are essential. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kent, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
