The position also involves working closely with the receiving team, warehouse staff, and production personnel to ensure that materials are available for production on time.
Detailed Descriptions of Functions:
  • Unload materials from trucks using forklifts, cranes, or other material-handling equipment.
  • Physically handle and move steel components, sheets, plates, or other heavy materials to designated receiving areas.
  • Ensure that the correct items are unloaded according to delivery documentation (e.g., purchase orders, packing slips, or shipping manifests).
  • Inspect incoming shipments for accuracy in terms of part numbers, quantities, and specifications.
  • Inspect materials for signs of damage, defects, or discrepancies with purchase orders and delivery receipts.
  • Report any damage or discrepancies (e.g., missing items, incorrect quantities, or damaged goods) to the Receiving Lead or Supervisor for follow-up.
  • Verify that the materials meet quality standards and are suitable for use in the steel fabrication process.
  • Accurately record and enter received materials into inventory management systems or databases, ensuring correct material counts and item identification.
  • Maintain records of receiving transactions, including delivery logs, inspection reports, and material specifications.
  • Ensure proper documentation for each receipt of materials, including packing slips, invoices, and any reports of discrepancies or issues.
  • Organize and store materials in the appropriate designated storage locations within the warehouse or facility.
  • Follow proper storage procedures to ensure that materials are safe, accessible, and not exposed to environmental conditions that may cause damage (e.g., moisture, excessive heat).
  • Label and tag materials clearly with part numbers, quantities, and any relevant identification codes for easy tracking.
  • Work closely with the inventory control team to ensure proper stock levels are maintained and that materials are available when needed for production.
  • Assist in periodic inventory counts and audits, ensuring that physical inventory matches the system records.
  • Help with restocking or reordering materials as necessary to support the fabrication schedule.
  • Communicate effectively with the Receiving Lead, Warehouse Manager, and Production teams to ensure that materials are processed and available for use without delay.

  • Follow company safety procedures and OSHA guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Report any safety hazards or violations to supervisors and participate in corrective actions.
  • Maintain and operate material-handling equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes) in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly inspected and maintained, reporting any malfunctions or safety issues to the supervisor.
  • Ensure that materials are properly secured on handling equipment to prevent shifting or falling during transport.
Qualifications:
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a material handling or warehouse role, preferably in a steel fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environment.
  • Valid forklift certification (or the ability to obtain one) is required for safely operating material-handling equipment.
  • Ability to accurately count and inspect materials, identify discrepancies, and ensure proper documentation.

  • Ensure that materials are properly secured before being moved or stored, preventing them from falling or shifting.
  • Never attempt to move materials without proper tools or equipment if the load exceeds safe manual lifting limits.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment only if properly trained and certified.
  • Inspect equipment before use to ensure it is in safe working condition. Report any malfunctions or damages to supervisors immediately.
