About the
Role:
The Dock Worker plays a critical role in the manufacturing supply chain by ensuring the efficient and safe handling of materials and products at the dock area. This position is responsible for loading and unloading shipments, organizing inventory, and maintaining a clean and orderly dock environment to support seamless operations. The role requires close coordination with warehouse staff, truck drivers, and production teams to facilitate timely movement of goods. Attention to safety protocols and proper equipment use is essential to prevent accidents and damage to materials. Ultimately, the Dock Worker 1 contributes to the overall productivity and operational success of the manufacturing facility by managing dock activities with precision and reliability.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to safely operate material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks (certification preferred or willingness to obtain). Physical ability to lift heavy objects and perform manual labor for extended periods. Basic understanding of safety procedures and compliance standards in a manufacturing environment. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a manufacturing or warehouse dock environment. Forklift operator certification. Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills. Ability to work flexible hours including overtime or weekends as needed. Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.
Responsibilities:
Unload incoming shipments from trucks and containers using appropriate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks. Load outgoing shipments accurately and securely to ensure safe transport. Inspect incoming and outgoing materials for damage or discrepancies and report any issues to supervisors. Organize and stage materials in designated dock areas to facilitate efficient workflow. Maintain cleanliness and safety standards in the dock area, including proper storage of equipment and materials. Collaborate with warehouse and production teams to coordinate shipment schedules and inventory management. Operate dock equipment safely and perform routine maintenance checks. Document shipment information and maintain accurate records of dock activities.
